Liz’s Training Journal June 9th - June 15th 2025

Monday June 10th - Sunday June 15th,
Not at all the week of training that was planned, but the week of training I needed. I am not sure I can even explain the feelings I felt being up in the mountains. It’s like having a passion and love for something that you have alway had but that it has dimmed a little the past few months.
Life has gotten in the way and you have not fully felt or been experiencing that passion. It’s that feeling you know it is there, yet you cannot feel it all the time. Then I stepped into the mountain and felt all the passion for life again. Those feelings/experiences come rushing up and you remember. You remember that you are doing and why. It was someting I need more than I even know you knew I needed. And this is not fully about my passion for running. It’s for life. Remembering my why.
Being 100% honest, I have felt very alone in this sport recently - which is crazy with the amount of friends and support I have in this running community. Yet, sometimes what I felt was a deeper rooted feeling. This was something I was trying to explore and really understand. That moment of understanding came so many times during this Tahoe trip. It came randomly when I was hiking up a mountain or when I was sitting back in the middle of a group of friends as they all talked running. This realization and/or feeling can come out anytime. Sometimes taking longer than I wanted but I am thankful it did happen.
Life is always throwing curve balls at you and walls to get over. It is what it is. What really matters is what YOU decide to do with it. This could take days to get through. It could take months. Again, what matters is what YOU do with it. How you handle it and the action you choose to make.
I am not going to set back and let the adversity get me down. I will continue. I will strive to be better. Each and every day - 1% better is always the goal. More is always welcomed.

Not really a run - full on explore mode! We went to Lake Sabrina and saw some amazing views along the way! It was amazing! Truly so stunning to venture up a mountain and see where you started. Plus everything else in between!
Felt really good moving through the elevation! I was obviously not using it but was a bit surprised I was not bothered with the elevation. Maybe too distracted by all the views!
Did get into some water here. Not a fully plunge like Lizzy.. but I got my knees wet. LOL
