Another solid week of training in the threshold block. Even with one of the interval runs not going as planned. The work was done and I gave my best effort. That’s what training is all about. Sometimes you have the runs that are the best and greatest ever - Tuesday run. These runs remind you why you love running and it lights the fire under your ass!
But some runs will dim that light, and they will not be easy - physically or mentally. That’s okay! It is what you do with these hard runs the makes the difference. You can continue to push through the suck, you can adjust the effort in the run, or you can call it early. All of these are okay. This one run does not define you. It is not who you are. It is a crappy run that we all experience from time to time.
One thing I have been told and always remind myself during these harder runs is that the hard runs usually mean you are pushing yourself. That is a good thing. You want to push yourself during training. If all the runs were easy, would you ever grow as a runner?
Also, sometimes we will have crap runs and they are just that - crap runs. A huge reminder is the heat is coming - summer is creeping in and the heat is a huge factor in training! Sometimes runs will feel super hard due to the heat compared to winter running. You have not lost any fitness. It is just getting hot… and it puts a toll on your body!

Really good threshold run!! The run felt just right and the last 2 interval was the perfect kind of suck. A great push and not something out of control!

Nice and easy run - legs are already feeling sore from the leg workout. After about 20 mins the legs felt a little better and the soreness eased up. BUT after the run… legs got really stiff and sore.

Summery:
Went into the run with sore legs from Tuesday’s Leg workout. Almost pushed this run to a different day but decided to tackle the run. Boy… did this run get the best of me. I pushed through but had to readjust the effort. It was hot and my body was exhausted.
Crazy to know I was doing 12 min intervals two day prior and felt on top of the world… to hit these intervals and feel like trash!

Summery:
Rent went better than expected!! Did have to adjust a little of the workout and power hike more than assigned. I was on a call and needed to focus on what all was going on. I did not want to stop the run, so I power hiked.
Right hammy and left ankle felt a little off, but nothing concerning. More of little niggles. - Keep and eye on them.
This run was a big mental win for me. I was not in the mood to go run and I made myself get out there and get the run in. Also for having such a blah mood, the run went very good.
39+ miles is CRAZY 🤯
